At 12.15 pm on Thursday, King Willem-Alexander officially opened the Brainport Industries Campus on Rijtackerweg near Eindhoven Airport. The king unveiled a sculpture of the Eindhoven artist Juul Rameau.

This depicts the creative brain, with a kind of cotyledon and fanning seeds in the shape of synopsis, nerve cells that make new connections, symbolic of the BIC. Those nerves are depicted with steel studs on the access route to BIC. The king laid a final large coin with his initials on it. They were milled in by a robot.
