Biophilia

Biophilia describes the innate relationship between people and (the rest of) nature. Like all other life on this planet, we are part of a greater whole. Connecting with nature in the built environment is what we call ‘Biophilic Design’. Many scientific studies prove that nature or a natural environment has positive effects on our health and well-being.
With Biophilic Design I want to strengthen the relationship between nature, human biology and design in the built environment. Biophilia Design appeals to all our senses and I apply it to create environments that feel good and are good for us! When you look at it, the Biophilia effect kicks in. People dig in their subconscious for memories in which the patterns occur. Back to those moments of happiness in the woods or on the beach. And that provides relaxation at that moment.

Man is attracted to nature and other living beings. It is therefore not surprising that studies show that nature and the experience of nature have a major influence on our well-being, recovering capacity and reduce stress. We do our best in nature, our original habitat. I like to contribute to people’s well-being. It is self-evident to me that I connect them with the natural world and thus create a ‘natural place or resting point’. The side effect is that with that connection we also stimulate awareness of nature and increase its beauty. Which leads to a sustainable involvement in that natural world.
