Biophilic Design

Biophilia describes the inborn relationship between people and (the rest of the) nature. Like all the other life on this planet, we are part of a larger whole. Connecting to nature in the built environment is called ‘Biophilia Design’. Many scientific studies prove that nature or a natural-like environment has positive effects on our health and well-being.

With Biophilia Design I want to strengthen the relationship between nature, human biology and design in the built environment. Biophilia Design appeals to all our senses and allows me to create environments that feel good and are good for us!

Man feels attracted to nature and other living beings. It is therefore not surprising that research shows that nature and nature experience have a major impact on our well-being, restorative capacity and stress-reducing effects. We reconnect to our inner-self in nature, our original habitat. I like to contribute to the well-being of people. It is self-evident for me that I connect them to the natural world and thus create a ‘natural place or resting point’. The side effect is that with that connection we also stimulate awareness of nature and increase its beauty. Which leads to a sustainable involvement with that natural world.
